Your first interpreted meeting in about ten minutes. For the person running the room. Assumes Ovvos Wasel is installed on the room PC.
Before you start
- The room PC is on, connected to the room network, with the room display attached.
- The meeting will play on the room PC — Teams, Zoom, Webex, or a microphone feed.
- Participants have phones and headphones, and can join the room WiFi.
1. Open Ovvos Wasel
Double-click Ovvos Wasel on the desktop.
The window shows "Getting the interpreter ready" with three steps — speech to text, translator, voices. This takes about 45 seconds. There is nothing to press.
Open it ten minutes before people arrive. That minute lands badly if you start it as the room fills.
2. Set the languages
When it is ready, the window says "Ready. Set the languages."
- Source — what they speak: leave Auto-detect on. If you know which languages will be spoken, tick them — it improves accuracy.
- Target — what they hear: tick up to four languages for listeners.
Your choices are saved immediately and appear everywhere in the application.
3. Start the meeting
Press Start meeting.
Nothing is interpreted until you do. The screen changes to the meeting live view: a QR code, the address, the PIN (if one is set) and the languages.
4. Put the room display on the wall screen
Press Open room display, move that window to the room's screen and maximise it. It shows the QR code, address, PIN and languages, large enough to read from across the room.
5. Participants join
They:
- join the room WiFi,
- scan the QR code on the room display (or type the address),
- enter the PIN, if asked,
- tap their language and put their headphones on.
Audio starts straight away, with a caption on screen.
6. Check it works
On the Home page, Send test phrase speaks a short sentence to every connected headset. Or simply start the call — everyone should hear it in their language two to four seconds after it is said.
7. End the meeting
Press End meeting (on Home, or "End meeting" on the meeting live view). Interpretation stops on every phone at once, and the room display clears.
Closing the window keeps Ovvos Wasel running in the system tray. To quit, use the tray icon's menu.
If something is not right
The readiness dots at the top of Home are green when everything is ready. Hover over any that is not green: it says what is wrong and how to fix it. The most common:
| You see | Do this |
|---|---|
| Phones on the WiFi can connect is red | The firewall rule is missing — run the installer as Administrator, or ask IT to allow TCP 8760 |
| Sound is reaching the interpreter is red | The call is not playing on this PC, or plays to a different device — check the Audio page |
| A language has no voice | Remove it from the targets |
